In 2014, I decided to keep a list of books that I read throughout the course of the year for no other reason than I like book lists. In the past I’ve done a separate post for reading resolutions, but this year I thought I’d put them together just to force me to revisit those resolutions every time I update the list. Well, thatresolution, because I only have one.
I resolve not to count the number of books I read this year.
I want to read without the pressure of completing a predetermined number of books. Also, I’m aware that much of the reading I’ll be doing this year is academic. Because I know I’ll be reading differently, I want to create pressure-free space where I don’t feel shame for not reading as much as I once did. I’m still trying to come to terms with not reading as much, understanding that immediate acceptance isn’t going to happen. But it’s going to be okay. And I’m not going to love stories any less.
What are your resolutions for this year (if you make them)?
