Could you ever pick a favorite book or is like choosing a favorite child?

Actually, this is an easy question for me. I’ll tell you, my favorite book has changed a few times through the years. It was Matilda by Roald Dahl for a while. Harry Potter holds a special place in my heart. A number of books I’ve read have been the right book at the right time for whatever I’m working through. But in the last year, When the Moon Was Ours by Anna-Marie McLemore has emerged as a clear favorite.

I bought a copy recently. The hardcovers were ~$6 on Amazon. A student of mine had been reading my digital copy off of my phone. When I left the classroom (I have an office in the admin building now and a new job), I left my hardcopy with our librarian (it came in after I’d left my classroom) and told her it was there.

I love this book for reasons I’m happy to tell you about if you’re interested. Especially if you’ve read the book.
