Do you ever have a hard time reviewing books because you have such a visceral reaction to them? If so, what books?

A few weeks ago I read Tyler Johnson Was Here by Jay Coles. I’d been waiting for this one because of my dissertation. And when I got it, like all the other books in this category, it sat on my shelf for a minute before I could actually bring myself to read it.

#bookaday Tyler Johnson Was Here by Jay Coles. #SNRtbs What about that box, though? Did I miss it? Okay, for real, this is the most recent addition to my YA BLM must-read list. I liked that before we find out what happened to Tyler, we get a real sense of Tyler and Marvin’s relationship and the community in which Marvin, Tyler, G-Mo and Ivy live. I find it hard to provide commentary on books with police violence and race relations anymore because my reaction is so visceral. Anyone else have the same problem?
