End of Series Book Haul

I’m ready not to be in the process of moving. All of my books are packed and have been stored in the garage, and the two naked bookshelves in our living room are looking at me like they’re depressed.

If you’ve moved before, you know that moving involves getting rid of lots of things you’ve collected but no longer use. We actually had a number of books that we decided would be better of in other people’s collections, so we took them to the used bookstore.

Now, it wouldn’t be a good time in the used bookstore if we didn’t look around a bit, right? I was initially on the hunt for used XBox 360 games since I anticipate more brain breaks as I continue to work on my dissertation, but was quickly distracted by the young adult section.

So I picked up books for series that I previously started but had not completed.

What’s nice about this is it brought The 5th Wave back into my consciousness and now my wife and I are listening to it together. Maybe we’ll even see the movie when we’re done.

Have you read either of these? Do they wrap up their respective series well?

I have not finished The 5th Wave series despite really enjoying the first book. I was not a fan of the second book and you know when you feel iffy about a series and the more time that passes, the less likely you’ll ever finish it? That’s what happened to me.

Whoops, forgot to say good luck with the move! Moving can be a terrible experience, but I also find it kind of nice that it forces you to declutter.

Thanks. And right? And I just found out this morning that we can move before we planned to, so that will be good. I’ll feel like we’re actually doing something. The declutter has been fantastic.

My problem is that it’s been so long since I read either of these series, I’ve forgotten what happened. I have The 5th Wave on audio right now. Did you see the movie? If you did, was it any good?

I have seen the movie and it was okay. Honestly, I have such low expectations for movie adaptations, I never go into them expecting to be impressed.
