Ten Books Under 2000 Ratings

Happy Tuesday, readers! This week’s Top Ten Tuesday post, set for us by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl is top ten books with fewer than 2000 ratings on Goodreads. I’m starting with books I read this year and working my way backward. I’ve excluded picture books from this list, just because I’ve read so many of them in the last month and a half. Also, I wrote this post two weeks ago, so some of the numbers may have changed.

  1. At the time of this writing, On the Come Up by Angie Thomas, with 1,700ish reviews.
  2. #NotYourPrincess: Voices of Native American Women edited by Lisa CHarleyboy and Mary Beth Leatherdale
  3. Once Ghosted, Twice Shy by Alyssa Cole at 535 ratings. This was my reintroduction to wlw romance and I think the first romance I read with a black same-sex couple, so that was exiting for me.
  4. A Blade So Black by L. L. McKinney
  5. Lu by Jason Reynolds. This is the fourth book in a fabulous middle grade series about a group of kids on an elite track team. I can’t sing its praises enough.
  6. Odd One Out by Nic Stone. It’s Nic Stone people! She rocks!
  7. After the Shot Drops by Randy Ribay. This is one I finished and immediately put in the hands of a student. It was that good.
  8. Shadowhouse Fall by Daniel José Older. This is the second in an urban fantasy series with an Afro-Latina protagonist. More people should be up on this series.
  9. I Am Alfonso Jones by Tony Medina, Stacy Robinson (illustrator), and John Jennings (Illustrator). This is a graphic novel about police violence. So good.
  10. Soverign by April Daniels. This is the second book in a series about a transwoman superhero. And it is awesome. BTW, April Daniels! Where’s book three!?!?!

What are some of your favorites under 2000 reviews?

Have you read On the Come Up yet? I’m on a very long list for it at my local library.

I did. I bought the audio and the physical book the day it came out and had it done by the weekend. Such a great story.
