I picked up A Very Large Expanse of Sea by Tahereh Mafi because I loved the Shatter Me series. I didn’t know that this one wasn’t fantasy when I checked it out from the library, but honestly, that didn’t matter. I’m always here for a good contemporary novel. Even one as heartbreaking as this one.
