Books I Meant to Read in 2020 but Didn’t Get To | Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl

If you’ve followed my Top Ten Tuesdays for any amount of time you’ll know that I love to make reading lists but I’m terrible about actually reading books on those lists. On July 28, 2020, I used a Top Ten Tuesday freebie to put myself on blast for all the books I brought back from the 2019 NCTE conference that I’d been talking about reading, but hadn’t yet. Let’s take a look at that list. You can swipe through the images below for covers.

The List

  1. Birthday by Meredith Russo
  2. I’m Not Dying with You Tonight by Kimberly Jones and Gilly Segal
  3. The Voting Booth by Brandy Colbert
  4. We Are Lost and Found by Helene Dunbar
  5. Anger is a Gift by Mark Oshiro
  6. Light It Up by Kekla Magoon
  7. The Year We Fell from Space by Amy Sarig King
  8. Barely Missing Everything by Matt Mendez
  9. Like a Love Story by Abdi Nazemian
  10. Let Me Hear a Rhyme by Tiffany D. Jackson

The Results

Of those 10 books, I only read one: The Voting Booth by Brandy Colbert. I did read Mark Oshiro’s other book, Each of Us a Desert, and Helene Dunbar’s Prelude for Lost Souls. That’s got to count for something, right?

I’m not sure I want to start trying to hold myself to a list right now, but maybe that can be something I resolve to do next year.

What books did you mean to read in 2020 that you didn’t get to?
