Lovely War is a book I picked up to read with the Nerdfighteria Online Book Club. It’s also the winner of the 2020 Amelia Elizabeth Walden Award (an award for which I’m on next year’s committee).
The tl;dr synopsis is as follows: Aphrodite and Ares are caught by Hephaestus. To get herself out of trouble, Aphrodite tells Hephaestus a love story.
It’s a pretty unconventional literary choice, but one that I very much enjoyed. It also made for some really good conversation (some of which made it into the review below.
So without further ado, swipe left for my review. (No, the rhyme was just a happy conincidence.)
