Hello, readers! This week’s Top Ten Tuesday prompt, hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl, is about books on our TBRs we think will be five star reads.
So toward the end of last year, I stopped giving books official star ratings, and started using my Bitmoji to express my enjoyment or lack thereof of my reads. I started with five options, but at the end of January, I decided that limiting myself to those options was still too much like assigning a star rating.
As of right now, the Bitmoji below is the one I use for books that I’ve enjoyed immensely for whatever reason. Note: I’m not blogging for my students anymore, so I have no problems using this particular Bitmoji.

So with that background out of the way, here are the books I think will earn that response from me.
- Dark and Deepest Red by Anna-Marie McLemore
- The Last True Poets of the Sea by Julia Drake
- A Dream So Dark by L. L. McKinney
- Let Me Hear a Rhyme by Tiffany L. Jackson
- Light It Up by Kekla Magoon
- Tristan Strong Punches a Hole in the Sky by Kwame Mbalia
- Some Places More than Others by Renée Watson
- The Voting Booth by Brandy Colbert (I have an ARC of this one)
- I Hope You Get This Message by Farah Naz Rishi
- Black Girl Unlimited by Echo Brown
Any of these make your list? Drop me a link and I’ll visit your TTT.
I just finished Tristan Strong recently, and OMG I would give it aaaall the stars if I could. ❤ I hope you love it. I'm already dying to get my hands on the sequel. xD Black Girl Unlimited was an interesting, powerful read, too, but I didn't realize it was mostly contemporary with some light magical realism, so it didn't quite make five stars for me. I hope you love it, though.
Here's my TTT post.

The only one I’ve heard of off your list is SOME PLACES MORE THAN OTHERS and it sounds really good. I’ll have to check out your other picks. I hope they all turn out to be 5-star/thumbs up reads for you!
Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!
