The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater is one of the favorite series in my house. When we found out that Stiefvater was writing a series with Ronan as the central character, we knew it was one we were going to pick up.

Call Down the Hawk begins after the end of The Raven Cycle, and there are enough references to the other characters that I didn’t miss anyone (Blue) too much.

The Lynch brothers, the brothers Lynch as a group were interesting to me, so I was excited that this series provided some backstory and some depth to them, both as a collective, and as individuals.

Other players enter the story as well – the setting broadens outside Henrietta and Cabeswater. I’d always wondered with Niall Lynch got up to that resulted in his death, and with Call Down the Hawk, we get a glimpse of that world as well.
