My Life as an Ice Cream Sandwich is Ibi Zoboi’s middle grade debut.
I loved Pride and enjoyed American Street, so when I saw this on the New Releases shelf at the library, I knew I wanted to pick it up.
My Life as an Ice Cream Sandwich follows twelve-year-old Ebony-Grace Norfleet as she moves from Huntsville, Alabama to Harlem, New York. Because she has an incredibly vivid imagination, and an imaginary world she inhabits most of the time, Ebony-Grace has a hard time making friends.
As readers, we witness Ebony-Grace find her place among the loud boisterousness of New York City.
