I honestly don’t have the appropriate words to express how beautiful Blue by Laura Vaccaro Seeger is.

My friend sent it to me because she knew I’d understand.

And boy, did I.

See, the previous weekend, one of our cats was very sick, so seeing the relationship between the boy and his dog reminded us of our relationship with our cat. We may or may not have reacted emotionally, as I’m sure my friend did when she read it.

(There’s a story about The Knife of Never Letting Go, the dog Manchee, and my friend being VERY angry at me, hence the above assumption.)

If you’re in the market for a picture book about the friendship between a child and their pet, this is a good one.

I’d preview it first, though.
