I picked up Esperanza Rising by Pam Muñoz Ryan because of a lesson demo. As someone who helps teachers improve their instruction, I would be remiss not to read the book the students were reading before I went into a class to help their teachers.

I can’t tell you how much fun I had with this group of 5th graders. They were incredibly engaged and they were willing to work with this random teacher who came in to teach their teachers.

And if you haven’t read Esperanza Rising, put it on your list. You won’t be sorry.
