Bookish Wishlist | Top Ten Tuesday

I keep trying to do Top Ten Tuesdays and manage not to finish them before Tuesday rolls around. It’s Christmas today (and I had a little time on Sunday to prewrite), so I get to participate this week. Yay! Given that we didn’t put up a tree this year, and most of our Christmas revolves around hanging out and not working, I thought I’d make a list of books that I’d like to add to my collection at some point.

  1. On the Come Up by Angie Thomas — After The Hate U Give, I will read anything that Thomas writes. There were so many points of entry for me in that story.
  2. Watch Us Rise by Renée Watson and Ellen Hagen — Similar to my rationale for Angie Thomas’s book, I’ve been able to see my childhood in Watson’s books. I’m here for it.
  3. Lu (Track #4) by Jason Reynolds — I’ve read this one already and I can’t speak more highly of this middle grade series I don’t usually like change in narrator in a season, but I didn’t care at all with this series.
  4. Miles Morales Spiderman by Jason Reynolds — I heard the movie was good.
  5. Long Way Down by Jason Reynolds — there might be a trend here, I don’t know if you noticed.
  6. Children of Virtue & Vengeance (Legacy of Orïsha #2) by Tomi Adeyemi (no cover yet) — Have you read CBB? It was my favorite book of 2018, so naturally the sequel is a must.
  7. Black Enough: Stories of Being Young and Black in America edited by Ibi Zoboi — I think enough is said in the title.
  8. If It Makes You Happy by Claire Kann — I loved her first book, so I’m excited for the second.
  9. The Revolution of Birdie Randolph by Brandy Colbert — Because Little & Lion.
  10. The Everlasting Rose (The Belles #2) by Dhonielle Clayton — Another great start in 2018 that I want to continue.

Seriously. I’m just going to keep throwing my money at her. THUG is a big story to live up to. I’m sure it’s going to be amazing.

Thanks! I did. And now I’m back at it. At least my work involves books, right?

Right? And it’s so much darker in contrast to the first book in the series. It’s such an interesting take on the social conversation about beauty standards.

On the Come Up and Children of Virtue and Vengeance! I can’t wait to see the cover of the latter, to be honest.
