After the Fall | Sticky Note Reviews

I haven’t reviewed picture books much here because I’ve been a middle school teacher. Though, really, that’s not an excuse. It’s not like I didn’t read picture books to my middle schoolers.

So since my reading life is intentionally expanding, I guess I’ll start posting reviews of the picture books I read as well. So here’s what happened after Humpty Dumpty fell off the wall.

#bookaday After the Fall: How Humpty Dumpty Got Back Up Again by Dan Santat. #SNRtbs I picked this one up because of an @NCTE award and I’m so glad I did. The prose is succinct, but the story is absolutely stunning. Children may easily get the message about getting back up again after a fall, but it’s so much more than that. There are subtle messages about vulnerability embedded into the images that it took a few readings for me to catch. Absolutely beautiful. #stickynotereviews
