El Deafo | Sticky Note Reviews

IMG_4081I saw El Deafo by Cece Bell on Twitter a million years ago. For whatever reason, I decided to pick it upon Saturday morning. I may have also been thinking about escaping into a graphic novel (which I do in a very different way than when I escape into a book). It was available in my library’s digital collection, so I went for it.

El Deafo is the mostly-autobiographical story of Cece, a bunny who loses her hearing at four years old. It chronicals from four years old to about ten, when Cece is in fifth grade. We see her make friends, lose friends, get into some mischief and attempt to navigate the hearing world as someone who has hearing loss. I can’t even tell you how much I loved this story.

Here’s my Sticky Note Review. It’s not on a sticky note, but it fits on one, so that should count for something.
