I’ve been thinking quite a bit about movies lately. T and I just saw The Shape of Water, and it was so beautiful. One of the previews before the movie was for Love, Simon, an adaptation of Becky Albertalli’s Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda. From there, I started thinking about a series I used to do what seems like ages ago. Without further ado, here are the movies that are adapted from children’s and YA books this month.
Okay, so you may or may not be familiar with this next one, but it’s a fond part of my childhood, so I might have a desire to see it. Also this month we get Paddington 2, based on the character created by Michael Bond.
In this installment of the movie, Paddington goes to jail after witnessing the theft of a book he was soon to purchase, and being wrongly accused of the crime.
The other movie that I found, out on January 26th, is The Death Cure, which is the third installment of the Maze Runner series by James Dashner. I remember finishing this one in an airport while traveling and thinking it was fantastic.
I won’t talk too much about it, just in case you haven’t already read The Maze Runner, but I will say that the trailer looks so awesome that I may just have to rent the other two movies before this one comes out.
It’s not YA but I’m really looking forward to seeing the film version of Jeff Vandermeer’s Annihilation and if T hasn’t read the trilogy I recommend she does.
