Shadowhouse Fall | The Friday 56

I honestly don’t know why I stopped doing The Friday 56. Maybe it has something to do with the insane-ness of work and school.

This weekend, I’m reading Shadowhouse Fall (Shadowshaper #2) by Daniel José Older. This will probably come up in my Sticky Note Review, but I absolutely love the friendships in this story.

So let’s start at the very beginning. It’s a very good place to start. Book Beginnings is hosted by Rose City Reader. See more Book Beginnings over there.

bb-buttonSierra Santiago closed her eyes and the whole spinning world opened up around her. A brisk wind whispered songs of the coming winter as it shushed through browning leaves and whisked along the moonlit field, throwing Sierra’s mass of curls into disarray.

Even though we don’t get a sense of what’s happening, or what’s coming from Older’s intro, we do get a sense of the setting, and Older’s descriptive style. One of the things I was looking forward to, going back into the Shadowshaper world, was Older’s rich descriptions.

Now let’s be naughty readers and skip ahead. I have a physical copy and the audiobook, but we’re going to go with an excerpt from page 56. The Friday 56 is hosted by Freda over at Freda’s Voice. For more Friday 56, check her out over there.

Mina seemed genuine, but there were too many unknowns still, and if Sierra had learned anything in the past few months of dealing with the spirit world, it was that things were almost never what they seemed.

I love it when I’m not sure if I can trust the characters in the story I’m reading. It really ramps up my prediction game. I’m also one of those readers who loves it when their predictions are wrong, so take that for what you will.

I’m going to get off the internet now and go back to my book. Because it’s awesome.

What are you reading this weekend?

BTW i get problems on the occasional blog, too, from my phone. There is one person in particular, ( @jamescudney4) lol I just cannot comment on his blog unless I go online on my PC. No idea why it doesn’t affect any other blogs. I think we’re also both WP… odd. Anyway, LOL I digress… Great book choice!!
