I loved the Legend series, and the Young Elites series (which I have yet to finish) intrigued me. So when I heard that Marie Lu wrote a new book, I was stoked. And then I read the premise and I was sold. I was lucky enough to be first in line for the audiobook copy at the library. After only listening for a day, I knew I had to pick up a physical copy. I finished a day later, and one of my students immediately made off with it.
Basic premise: Amika Chen is a bounty hunter who is about to be evicted from her apartment. When she hacks into the opening games of the Warcross tournament and is caught, she’s offered a job by the head of Warcross’s parent company. As a result, she’s now part of the games, while trying to find another hacker who continues to manipulate the game’s code. Oh, and Warcross is a virtual reality capture the flag that puts gym class’s capture the flag to shame.
#bookaday #stickynotereviews Warcross by Marie Lu. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟/5. In the words of one of my former students, "Oh. My. Wow." I mean, his one was so pod (and I talk about it so much) I already have students in line for my one cop. Naturally, it's not going o be. Straight forward bounty hunt in a VR world story. That's too easy. me even though I predicted the twist (I [generally] hate when my predictions are right), this faced paced action story is one I'll recommend to [just about] all my students.
