Allegedly | Sticky Note Reviews – the (book) supplier

I wasn’t sure I was going to have a Sticky Note Review today because I hadn’t finished anything since last week. Downloading the audio of Allegedly last night was probably a smart move. Today’s Sticky Note Review is for Allegedly by Tiffany D. Jackson.

The basic premise of the story: Mary Addison killed a baby when she was nine. Allegedly. Now she’s 16 and in a group home, fighting against the system to make something out of her life. Here’s my review.

#bookaday Allegedly by Tiffany D. Jackson. #stickynotereviews Seriously unreliable narrator? Check. Commentary about the juvenile justice system? Check. Jackson sets up a story that shows the injustice that occurs within said system through a narrator who readers sympathize with, but can't trust. I felt like I needed to reread the entire story after the ending to look for clues. I found the commentary about what happens when you turn 18 in the criminal justice system to be informative and scary. I can't wait to talk about this one with Allyn. 🙂 #snrtbs #blackbookblogger #bookstagram

I loved this one so so so much. I read it way back in February and I am still thinking about it. Like you, I know I’m going to have to reread it because of that ending. Jackson’s writing is so engrossing. It’s one of my favorite debuts ever.
