This week’s Blogger Hop question comes from Elizabeth at Silver’s Reviews. Elizabeth asks
Do you ever go “way back” to when you first started blogging and look at your old review posts? Do you see any differences from then to now?
Because this space was created initially for my students to find books that they could connect with – which is why I started booktubing – I’m frequently reminded of what my blog and my YouTube personality was like way back at the start.
It’s especially funny (read: embarrassing) when my students go off on their own and find my booktube videos. They think they’re awesome. I wish everything on my channel and in my blog looked like it does now.
I am significantly more organized now than I was at the beginning. I only posted book reviews, which sometimes led to burnout. Now I have a blogging schedule – each day has its own type of post. If I don’t post on a day, that’s fine, but the schedule keeps me balanced.
I definitely like how I’m handling book reviews a lot better now. Thinking about my audience (13 year olds, most of whom just haven’t found the right book yet) I needed to pare down my response to the reading. Hence reviews on Post-It notes. I posts these on Instagram and on Snapchat, so even if my students aren’t blog readers, they’ll still have the opportunity to engage with the content.
Do you ever spend time in the way-back machine?
Love your blog.
Hello from a fellow teacher. 🙂 I was a business teacher.
It is fun to go back and look how you have grown.
Welcome to the Blog Hop. I hope you join in the fun each week.
Happy Hopping!!
