It’s been a while since I’ve done a blogger hop post, but I liked this week’s topic, so I thought I’d throw my thoughts out there. This week’s question comes from Billy at Coffee Addicted Writer, who hosts the Book Blogger Hop.
Do you read tie-in novels to movies or television series? If so, which ones?
I haven’t read a tie-in novel in years. Not since I was a kid. The one I specifically remember was Rookie of The Year. Remember that 1993 classic? I hope someone else does besides me. I remember loving the production stills in the center.
Now, I avoid tie-in novels if I can. Call me a purist. I like to have the original covers on my shelves because I don’t want my book to be defined by the movie. Personal preference.
In recent years, I’ve only purchased tie-in novels at the Scholastic Book Fair (and to be fair, those are purchased with school money, and are immediately added to my classroom library).
How do you feel about tie-in novels?
The only movie tie-in book I’ve ever read is Fairy Tale: A True Story by Monica Kulling!

I kind of like tie-in novels. Sometimes I’m not ready to give up characters or world so the tie-in gives me a little bit more.

In what way? Because aren’t tie-in novels just reprintings with new covers? Or am I misunderstanding what a tie-in is?

I thought tie-ins were additional books. Like a novella can be a tie-in? That was my understanding anyway…
