The Friday 56: An Ember in the Ashes

The Friday 56 is a meme I found out about from BookComaBlog. What I love about The Friday 56 is that it’s an opportunity to highlight the beauty of language, which I think sometimes I overlook for the sake of the story. So this is the most beautifully worded sentence on page 56.

Rules:

*Grab a book, any book.
*Turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader (If you have to improvise, that’s ok.)
*Find any sentence, (or few, just don’t spoil it) *Post it.
*Add your (url) post below in Linky. Add the post url, not your blog url.
*It’s that simple.

This week, I’ve been reading An Ember in the Ashes by Sabraa Tahir. I’ve heard rumblings about it’s amazingness all over the internet.

Maybe before the raid, the chill in his eyes would have silenced me. But not now. (Tahir, 2015, p. 56)

What’s on page 56 of what you’re reading?

The Friday 56 is hosted by Freda’s Voice at http://www.fredasvoice.com. Hop over there for more.

    • You won’t be disappointed. I talked about them in my Sunday Bookstack on Instagram and Snapchat (I’m a middle school teacher – my students will watch whatever I post – let’s see how many of them ask for these books on Monday). The story wasn’t what I expected; it’s so much better. Thanks for stopping by.
