I saw this on a blog I recently started following, BookComaBlog, and thought it might be fun. Here are the rules:
Rules: *Grab a book, any book. *Turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader (If you have to improvise, that’s ok.) *Find any sentence, (or few, just don’t spoil it) *Post it. *Add your (url) post below in Linky. Add the post url, not your blog url. *It’s that simple.
I’m currently reading this beautiful book by Daniel Jose Older.
His towering frame, slick suit, and dark skin put him in stark contrast to everyone else around. He carried an old-fashioned leather briefcase in one hand and a smoke in the other (Older, 2016, p. 56)
The Friday 56 is hosted by Freda’s Voice at http://www.fredasvoice.com. Hop over there for more.
I love how descriptive the 56 is. I almost can see this guy. Now what is he up to?! 🙂 Happy Sunday!

Right? I think that’s what I like about the idea of the Friday 56. It’s an opportunity to just look at language and description without looking at the story as a whole.

I loved listening to this one on audio – the narrator, Anika Noni Rose, did a fantastic job. 🙂

I totally agree. I finished reading it the other day, but my partner and I are still listening to it as our bedtime story.
