Top Ten Favorite Historical Fiction Novels of All Time

People who have known me as a reader for a while know that I talk a lot of mess about how I’m not a fan of historical fiction. I’m trying not to say this anymore, because it’s really not true – especially since I’m so very selective about the novels I read anymore. So here are my favorite historical fiction novels in no particular order.

  1. Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein
  2. Countdown by Deborah Wiles (Series)
  3. One Crazy Summer by Rita Williams-Garcia (Series)
  4. Kindred by Octavia Butler
  5. Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Septys
  6. Revolution by Jennifer Donnelly
  7. Antebellum by R. Kayeen Thomas
  8. The Diviners by Libba Bray (Series)
  9. Razorhurst by Justine Larbalastier
  10. The Future of Us by Jay Asher and Carolyn Mackler

I am 100% certain that I forgot something I absolutely loved. What are your favorite historical fiction novels?

  1. Historical fiction is one of my favorite genres– I loved Revolution and Code Name Verity! My favorite historical fiction series is definitely the Bloody Jack series by L.A. Meyer — highly recommended!
