My fiancee and I were having a conversation the other night about our mutual interest in bibliotherapy (context: I’m a reading teacher, she’s a psychologist) and how we should do research together once I finish my dissertation. I think this is a fantastic idea and I am very excited about it.
In the same conversation, we talked about how we experience events, places, people, etc. that we might not otherwise have the opportunity to experience. She asked me for a list of books that her students (she’s a professor) could read if they wanted to experience queer folk in their multitudes of awesomeness and hardship.
I pulled the tag in my personal catalog and have these titles. But I’d like to get your input too. What should I add? Tweet at me, reblog and add (this is cross-posted on Tumblr) send reply on Facebook, whatever.
And thanks for being awesome.
