September Challenges – 9/09

Two challenges this month.  The Book Photo Challenge by Books & Cupcakes, and the Reflective Teaching Blogging Challenge fromTeachThought. While they’re not related to each other, I thought I’d take care of both at the same time, in one post. Just for fun. You can see all of the photos I’ve taken for the book photo challenge (and other things) in my Photo Gallery.

This one glows in the dark, which I didn’t know until someone at Barnes & Noble told me.

Reflective Teacher Day 9: Write about one of your biggest accomplishments in your teaching that no one knows about (or may not care).

My biggest accomplishment as a teacher has been not only advocating for my students (which is a ‘duh’ kind of thing) but finding the confidence and bravery to advocate for the teachers in my department and their autonomy. This may not be a huge accomplishment for many, but as an introvert who avoids confrontation at almost all costs, and mulls about the stupid things that must have said when confrontation happens, this is huge. But that the teachers can make the best decisions for their students and know they have support (which I think is lacking, not in my district, but on a state and national level) is important.
