Two challenges this month. The Book Photo Challenge by Books & Cupcakes, and the Reflective Teaching Blogging Challenge fromTeachThought. While they’re not related to each other, I thought I’d take care of both at the same time, in one post. Just for fun. You can see all of the photos I’ve taken for the book photo challenge (and other things) in my Photo Gallery.
September Book Photo Challenge Day 2: Whatcha Reading?
Reflective Teaching Day 2: Write about one piece of technology that you would like to try this year, and why. You might also write about what you’re hoping to see out of this edtech integration.
Instead of integrating a specific technology, I’d like students to do more with their own technology. Our school has just been fitted with wireless, and our technology department is encouraging us to use it (why would they do it if they didn’t want students to use it?). It’s exciting to me as students are sometimes motivated by the ability to use their own technology rather than the technology provided by the school. I mentioned Quest Day in yesterday’s post, and that was the first time I’ve made a concerted effort to encourage students to use their own devices. Because data is no longer an issue with the wireless, I definitely plan to utilize the tools that my students are already familiar with. I’m excited to see what happens.
