I kind of feel bad for The Maze Runner and Divergent.
I read both of these books on the heels of The Hunger Games, which blew my mind. As such, I found both of these other books to be underwhelming and less dynamic than they could have been for me, as a reader, had I not read the Collins first.

Of course, that didn’t stop me from taking The Professor (who hasn’t read the series) to see Divergent, and it won’t stop me from taking her to see The Maze Runner, either.
