Mashable’s list of 11 Young Adult Books Sure to Make You Cry drove me a little crazy. Don’t get me wrong. I love books that make me cry. If you take a look at the books on my Evangelical Zeal shelf (below), you’ll find that most of those books are sad. And yes, there are two copies of The Fault in Our Stars. One of them is signed by both John and Hank, and the other is my annotated edition, complete with QR codes. And there are also two copies of Everfound (separated by the copy of Matilda from my childhood). One is an ARC and the other is hardcover and they’re both signed — the ARC because I won a contest and gave the book to a student who was moving away, and the hardcover because I forgot about the ARC when I was standing in line after having purchased it at ALAN 2011.

So why does this list drive me crazy?
What kind of list only has 11 books on it? Couldn’t they have made it a round 10 or a round 15? Would that have been so hard? No matter.
So because I am apparently neurotic, I’m going to give you four more books that I loved that made me cry so we do have a round 15. I’m not going to talk about them because they all, with the exception of one (and only because I don’t have an extra pristine copy), on my Evangelical Zeal shelf.
12. A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness.
13. Aristotle & Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz
14. Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher
15. Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein
*whew* I feel better now. An even 15. For more books that have made me cry, check out my Tear Jerkers page.
