Locomotion is a novel in verse about a boy in foster care who is still dealing with the lost of his parents from years before. He is encouraged by a teacher to write poetry, and this short novel is the result. In the video below, Jacqueline Woodson, the author, talks a little bit about the area where the story takes place.
