I’m a huge fan of retellings. Books like Ash by Malinda Lo, and The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel by Michael Scott struck my fancy because they took stories from my youth and updated them, changed them, made them modern and included twists I never even saw coming. So when I went to the Scholastic Warehouse Sale this past May and saw Cinder, I couldn’t help but pick it up. And Marissa Meyer didn’t disappoint.

Scarlet is the second installment in the Lunar Chronicles, and adds Little Red Riding Hood to our cast of fairy tale characters. I’m excited to see what Marissa Meyer does with it… and February 2013 seems like it’s still so far away.
