The Great Death
The Great Death by John E. Smelcer
Hardcover, 176 pages
940L

We’ve talked, in history classes, about how when the Europeans came to the Americas, they brought with them illnesses that the native people had no immunity to. When a light-skinned man comes to a small town in Alaska, covered in red blotches, Millie and Maura finds him interesting. But the illness the man brought with him all but wipes out their town. The girls have to figure out how to survive in the Alaskan winter, as they attempt to travel to the nearest town.
