As I watched my Twitter feed yesterday, I was saddened to find out that Lauren Myracle’s Shine was no longer a finalist for the National Book Award. In my perusal of the tweets, I saw something about a need to preserve the integrity of the award, which, given the content of Lauren Myracle’s book… never mind. I won’t go there.
