Book Preview: Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children
Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs
Hardcover, 352 pages
890L

Um, wow. From the beginning I was drawn in by both the story and the hauntingly beautiful photographs. Right now I lack the words to describe this story, which I devoured in one sitting.

I went back and read some of the other reviews on Goodreads, and one of the comments I found particularly interesting is that Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children is nothing more than a rip off of the X Men. And sure, I can see elements of the X Men in this novel, however, I don’t believe the story or the motivations of the characters to be completely derivative of the X Men.

I was surprised to find out that all of the pictures in the novel are real. Found at flea markets or in other places. Which really makes me wonder…
